Mike Ford‘s homer came first. A MASSIVE 438-foot drive to center — the opposite field for him — the longest homerun of his career — for a 2-0 Yankee lead in the 3rd at the Trop.

Stanton
Giancarlo Stanton‘s homer came next — an absolute MISSILE pulled Deep to left in the 5th to give the Yanks a 5-0 lead, after Gio Urshela had doubled in 2 runs later in the 3rd to chase Tampa starter Tyler Glasnow.

Cole
With a dominant Gerrit Cole on the mound striking out everyone it looked like an easy win. But in the 5th, all of Cole’s strikeouts rose his pitch count and Tampa jumped on him — an RBI double by 1st baseman Ji-Man Choi and a 2-run homer by DH Jose Martinez. And with 107 pitches, and 2 outs in the 5th, Cole was gone. He was pissed (at himself for giving up 3 runs, and also he couldn’t get the win). Cole finished with 10 strikeouts in 4.2 innings (14 outs).

Judge
Aaron Judge‘s homer came next — a 2-run BLAST in the 6th to immediately give back to the Yanks a large lead at 7-3. And that was pretty much the old ballgame — since it was scheduled to be a 7 inning game due to the doubleheader and Coronavirus.
