Brice Turang hit a HR off David Bednar with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th for a 4-3 walk-off win by the Brewers on a Mother’s Day Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.
The Yankees had an early 2-0 lead, and Carlos Rodon — in his first start of the season — was pitching a no-hitter into the 4th inning. But he lost control — loading the bases with nobody out on 2 walks and a hit-by-pitch. A sac fly, wild pitch, and 2-RBI single later and NY was behind 3-2.
Rodon would be yanked in the next inning after a 1-out walk and single — but the Yanks hung in and tied the game on an RBI double by Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the 6th.
The early Yankee runs came on an Aaron Judge HR in the 1st inning — his 16th of the season — and an RBI single by Spencer Jones in the 2nd inning — his first Major League hit.
“Tough weekend obviously,” said manager Aaron Boone afterwards. “They pitched really well against us and matched up really well against us. Just not able to string together enough big hits, and good swing by Turang to finish it off.”
NY gets swept in the 3-game series and falls to 26-15, dropping to 1 game behind Tampa in the AL East. Milwaukee improves to 22-16.
1. Judge HR in 1st Puts NY Up 1-0
Milwaukee started 24-year-old, 6’0 righty Logan Henderson, who features a 94-MPH 4-seam fastball and deceptive changeup, while also mixing in a cutter, a slider, and a curveball.
He struck out Trent Grisham to begin the game and got Ben Rice to line out, but he threw a first-pitch 94-MPH four-seam fastball to Aaron Judge, and Judge hit it 373 feet into the seats in opposite field right for a 1-0 Yankee lead.

2. Spencer’s 1st Hit Makes It 2-0 Yanks
Jose Caballero doubled off Henderson with 1 out in the top of the 2nd, and Spencer Jones hit a first-pitch 80-MPH slider for an RBI single up the middle into center — his first hit in the Majors. Yankees 2 Brewers 0.

3. Rodon No Hitter into 4th When He Gets Wild
Meanwhile Carlos Rodon took the mound for his first start of the season after surgery in October 2025 to remove loose bodies and shave down a bone spur in his left (pitching) elbow. And he had a no hitter going into the 4th — having allowed a walk in the 1st and 2nd innings — but also striking out 2 in those innings.

Rodon pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 3rd on 3 straight groundouts, and was cruising with a 2-0 lead when he all of a sudden got wild in the bottom of the 4th.
- Rodon walked the first 2 batters of the inning, then hit Andrew Vaughn with a pitch to load the bases with nobody out.
- He got Luis Rengifo to ground the ball to 3rd — the out made at home for 1 out.
- But Garrett Mitchell hit a sac fly to center to make it 2-1 NY.
- Rodon then threw a wild pitch to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd, and allowed a 2-RBI single to Blake Perkins for a 3-2 Brewers lead.
Rodon got the final out of the 4th but allowed a 1-out single to Brice Turang in the 5th, then walked William Contreras and was yanked.
Jake Bird came in and got the last 2 outs of the inning.
4. Chisholm RBI Double Ties Game 3-3 in 6th
The Yanks tied the game in the top of the 6th against reliever DL Hall — who walked Judge and Cody Bellinger with 1 out, and allowed an RBI double to Jazz Chisholm Jr.

5. Bird, Blackburn, Cruz & Hill Hold Fort
Blackburn relieved Bird to start the 6th. First batter Rengifo was safe on a throwing error by Ryan McMahon at 3rd, but Blackburn struck out Garrett Mitchell, walked Sal Frelick, then got Joey Ortiz to ground into a fielder’s choice.
Fernando Cruz came in with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs in the 3-3 game, and got Jackson Churio to fly to right to end the threat. PHEW.
Cruz walked a batter with 1 out in the 7th, but struck out 3 for a shutout inning.

6. Turang HR Walks It Off for Brewers
The Yanks couldn’t get anything going against Brewer relievers Trevor Megill, Aaron Ashby, or Abner Uribe — who pitched a shutout inning each — so the game went to the bottom of the 9th.
David Bednar came in and struck out the first 2 batter he faced, but Brice Turang hit a first-pitch, 77-MPH curveball for a HR to center and ballgame.
