
Domingo German was roughed up — 7 runs in 5 innings, and the Yankees were down 7-1 through 5 innings — but they started chipping away and then launched a 9th inning comeback to tie the game — but alas lost in the bottom of the 10th when Witt Merrifield hit ground ball to Gio Urshela at 3rd took a “kangaroo hop” and bounced past him for a game winning hit.
9th Inning Rally
With the Yanks down 7-4, 1 out and nobody on in the 9th — the game looked over. But back-to-back singles by Clint Frazier and Gio Urshela put the tieing run at the plate. Brett Gardner struck out. With 2 out, DJ LeMahieu singled in a run, Luke Voit walked — and then Aaron Hicks hit a big 2-out, 2-RBI single to tie it.
