Good old fashioned double header Sweep for the 34-17 Yankees over the 17-34 KC Royals. The Yankees are now 11-1 in their last 12, and have won 7 in a row. They are in first place by 3 games over Tampa; 7.5 over Boston.
First Game — NY 7 KC 3
J.A. Happ was looking great thru 4 innings of shutout ball, and the Yankee offense — Clint Frazier with a 2-RBI double — had given him a 3-0 lead. Happ was shutting up the naysayers on Yankee Twitter who had been on his case for recent poor pitching.

And then Happ allowed a 3-run homer in the 5th to tie the score.
The Yankees jumped right back with a 2-run homer by Luke Voit in the top of the 7th to take the lead — and hand Happ the win.

Second Game — NY 6 KC 5
In the second game, Chad Green “Opened” with a run on 3 hits allowed in the first. But Chance Adams came in to pitch what looked like a start — 4 innings, 3 runs — but was actually a long relief appearance.
And the Yankee replacement hitters exploded for 5 runs in the 2nd — Austin Romine doubling in Clint Frazier and Kendrys Morales; Cameron Maybin doubling in Romine and Gio Urshela; DJ LeMahieu singling in Maybin.
