Aaron Judge hit a homer in the 1st to put the Yanks up 1-0, and hit a 2-run bomb in the 5th to tie the game 4-4. But Gerrit Cole allowed 5 runs in an 8-inning stint, and the Yanks went down for the 3rd straight time.
NY still has the best record in baseball at 29-13.
Judge now has 17 homeruns to lead the major leagues.
“I’m just trying to do my job, like everybody else in this building,” said Aaron Judge afterwards. “I got a job to do at the top of the lineup. I got a lot of great hitters around me which makes my job a lot easier. With the pitching staff we got and what they’re able to do — like I say just do my job.”
1. Judge Jumps on Baltimore
Aaron Judge continued his season-long onslaught — jumping on Jordan Lyles in the bottom of the 1st for a bomb to left and 1-0 Yankee lead.

Aaron Hicks led off the 2nd with a walk and came around to score on a Jose Trevino single and NY was up 2-0.

2. Cole Allows 5 Runs in 8 Innings
But Gerrit Cole shit the bed in the 3rd — Ramon Urias led off with a bunt down 3rd — and no one was there so he made it to 2nd for a double.
Robinson Chirinos doubled Urias home and then with 1 out, 3 straight singles and a groundout made it 4-2 Baltimore.

4. Cole Coughs It Up Again
After the 4th inning Cole settled down — but when granted a 4-4 tie by Judge with his 2nd homer — Cole promptly gave up the lead again on a Urias homer in the 6th.
Cole went 8 innings, allowing 7 hits, 5 runs — striking out 11 with 0 walks.
This touched off a debate on Yankee Twitter as to whether he pitched a good game or not.
Cole has to do better than that — an ace is supposed to stop losing streaks.
