Coronavirus High Fives — Washington 9 NY 2; July 25, 2020

Washington centerfielder Victor Robles doubled in 2 runs off James Paxton in the 2nd inning, and hit a 3-run homer off the foul poul in left in the 4th off Mike King, to send Washington to the 9-2 victory. It was 3-2 when he hit the foul pole homer. In between it all, he threw up phantom high 5’s and played a phantom horn — motioning with 3 fingers as if playing a horn — something new to replace the Nationals’ “baby shark’ ritual of 2019, their championship year.

Down 3-1 in the 2nd, Giancarlo Stanton CRUSHED a homer in the empty stadium to make it 3-2 — the only Yankee highlight of the day.

James Paxton started and was gone in the 2nd inning, 5 hits, and 3 runs.

DJ LeMahieu was back playing his first game after testing positive for COVID-19.

The Yanks are now 1-1 on the season.
