Clint Frazier finally got the call back up, and in his first game of the year, ripped a homerun to left in his first at bat, singled in his 2nd at bat, and ripped a double to deep left in his 3rd at bat, finishing 3-4 before getting replaced for defense by Mike Tauchman in the 8th.

Yankee fans on twitter were allowed to marvel again at his Super Quick bat — the one we’d seen last year when he went 12-38- .267 in 225 at bats before being sent back to minors as odd-man out in a numbers game (plus his defense in the outfield was bad.)
Its crazy how late he can swing bc of the batspeed. the ball is on him before he comes forward with the bat https://t.co/IrttlFPJik

Meanwhile DJ LeMahieu continued as The Machine — going 4-5 to raise his league leading average to .431. After the game, LeMahieu said “I feel pretty locked in right now. I’m just part of a really good lineup. Just trying to do my part to get on base. If I get on base, I feel like we’re in good shape to score runs.”

The Game
The Braves jumped on top in the 2nd on a 2-run homer by 2nd baseman Johan Camargo; Gary Sanchez led off the scoring for the Yanks with a homerun in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the score; Frazier’s back-to-back homer tied it.
The Yanks scored 2 in the 4th to take the lead when Aaron Hicks doubled in a run and Gleyber Torres singled in a run; and then added 2 more in the 5th on consecutive RBI singles by LeMahieu and Luke Voit, for a 6-2 lead.
Tanaka Good; Loaisiga the Win
On the mound, Masahiro Tanaka pitched 4 solid innings — being relieved due to his pitch count limit (he threw 66 pitches) after being clocked in the head by a line drive only a month ago. Jonathan Loaisiga got the benefit of that — pitching the 5th and 6th scoreless ball to pick up the win.
Bullpen Wraps It Up
Then came Chad Green, Luis Avilan (the “Who? How’d he get on the team?” pitcher of 2020 for Yanks), Adam Ottavino, and Jonathan Holder for the 9th. All performed well except Holder, who couldn’t hold ’em — who got the first batter out but then allowed a single and RBI double to former Met Travis d’Arnaud before being relieved by Zack Britton for the save.
A nice win; a fun game to watch; a 2-game sweep of a very good team the Braves.
