So that’s 3 Yankee pitchers down — Masahiro Tanaka got bombed by Red Sox Friday night, James Paxton got bombed Saturday, and Red Sox knocked out CC Sabathia in the 5th today in the 9-5 loss. It is all up to Domingo German on Sunday night baseball tomorrow — the last man standing to prevent the Boston Massacre. He’ll be up against Chris Sale.
CC Sabathia did his best John Wayne early in this game — showing True Grit and keeping Boston relatively at bay and the Yankees in the lead, 2-1 into the bottom of the 4th. But then the game became like The Cowboys where John Wayne died. J.D. Martinez hit a 2-run homer in the 4th to give Boston the lead; 2nd baseman Michael Chavis singled in a run later in the inning to make it 4-2. CC got knocked out in the 5th — after a double by Rafael Devers and an RBI single by Xander Bogaerts.
Chad Green came in and got the last 2 outs of the inning, but in the 6th he got lit up for 3 runs and it was 8-3 Boston. The Yanks never recovered. Ballgame.
Minor Rally in 8th
The Yankees had a minor rally in the 8th — scoring 2 runs on a terrific at bat by Kyle Higashioka — he fouled off pitch after pitch in a 12-pitch at bat before singling home 2 runs to make it 9-5. But that was it for the Yanks.

Urshela
Gio Urshela continued to play unbelieveable ball. He hit a homerun to lead off the scoring in the 2nd. Singled in a run to put the Yanks up 2-1 in the 4th. He finished 4 for 4 and is now batting .306.
