This game took several U Turns. The Yanks were looking for a record for most consecutive games with a homer but were being shutout halfway through. They then U-turned the game into a HUGE lead; another U Turn had them hanging on to the win.
But the story was Jonathan Holder. Poor Jonathan Holder.
U Turn #1 — the Yankee Offense Takes Command
The Yanks were looking to tie the 2002 Texas Rangers for the all-time record of 27 games in a row with a homerun, but were down 2-0 to Aaron Sanchez entering the bottom of the 5th. And then Aaron Hicks hit one to the sticks for a 3-run homer and a 3-2 Yankee lead. All of a sudden CC Sabathia was on the winning side of the ledger, and the Yanks had tied the homerun record.
Record-tying, game-changing.

In the 6th, the Yanks exploded for 7 runs, caped off by a Giancarlo Stanton 438-foot 3-run homer and it was 10-2 Yankees. Game Over. Seemingly.

U Turn #2 — Holder
It would’ve been nice for Jonathan Holder if the game ended there. He came in for the 8th, after Tommy Kahnle pitched a 1-2-3 7th. Holder was murdered to the point where his Major League career is in jeopardy.
Leftfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr.led off with a homer, then a single (by Cavan Biggio), single (by Randall Grichuk), single (by Rowdy Tellez) and Grand Slam homerun by shortstop Freddy Galvis made it 10-7. Exit Holder. Chad Green came in and struck out the first 2 he faced, but then allowed consecutive singles! Finally Adam Ottavino came in and got the final out; sanity restored.
In the 9th, Aroldis Chapman allowed a 1-out double but got the final out on a hot shot down the 3rd base line and spectacular pick and off-balance throw by Gio Urshela for the ballgame.
Should Not have been that hard.
FINAL: #Yankees 10, Blue Jays 8
A sparkler by Urshela at third helps Chappy nail it down and the Yankees hold on to take their 50th win! Full postgame next on YES. pic.twitter.com/BCRAu6iCbp

Holder Demoted Right After the Game
After the game Holder was demoted to AAA. He put on a brave face in the post-game interview; you had to feel for him.
Jonathan Holder met the media shortly before he was optioned to Triple-A, and explained what he thinks has gone wrong for him as of late. #YANKSonYES pic.twitter.com/zUXCoSVRom

Etcetera
DJ LeMahieu went 4-4 with a walk — his first 4-hit game as a Yankee — and is now leading the American League in batting at .331. Luke Voit, Didi Gregorius, and Gio Urshela all had 2 hits. Gleyber Torres went 1-2 with 3 walks. Brett Gardner got a hit and a walk.
CC ended up getting his 251st win.
We've got a Yankeeography on CC Sabathia coming up after tonight's postgame show.
For now, please enjoy his final out in career victory number 251. pic.twitter.com/FW3boU39D9
